In the mid 80's Saturday morning cartoons had begun adapting rated R properties like Rambo and Robocop. At this same time Harvey K. Zwilick was looking to get into the animation game. After the death of Bob Fosse in 1987, "Star 80" the 1983 true crime thriller starring Mariel Hemmingway, came up for sale at a reduced rate.
     The story of the murder/suicide of a Playboy playmate Dorothy Statton seemed to be an odd choice for a children's show. Harvey soldiered on despite the naysayers. Several of the more sensitive topics, such as her murder suicide at the hands of her abusive boyfriend, were shelved in favor of adding Wags the dog and a weekly mystery that Dorothy and her mentor "Hef" to solve.
     The character of Paul Snider, Strattons real life boyfriend, often appeared, usually with a wacky plan to get into the Playboy mansion.  Peter Bogdanovich declined, so his character was excised from the story. Fourteen episodes were produced, the backlash was swift and it came before it even aired. The episodes were placed in the vault never to be seen, leaving this unpublished TV Guide cover, our only view into this lost gem.
