In 1979, riding high on the success of the previous years "Halloween". NBC convinced Donald Pleasence to return to the character of Dr. Loomis for a weekly series. Pleasence wanted to explore the medical procedural on a pediatric level.
Each of the six episodes filmed followed a formula of having a murder committed by an unassumingly cute white child, often times a family member. The episode would then spend its next two acts following Dr. Loomis as he works with the children. We were treated in the last 30 minutes of a 42-minute show, too often combative and accusatory therapy sessions. Always ending with our hero condemning the accused to a life in the basement of the hospital, many times while brandishing a gun.
